Deep Tissue massage and Connective tissue therapy (CTT)

Deep tissue massage and CTT(connective tissue therapy) are slower, much deeper forms of massage that allow time for the opening and relaxing of tension and gives fascia (outer coverings of all muscle fibers) time to melt. It can improve range of motion. Pain relief can be felt after just one session of CTT for many chronic and newer injuries. Athletes use this type of massage to enhance their overall performance. CTT can also aid in the prevention of and rehabilitation from many different types of activity and repetitive motion related injuries, as well as amazing natural pain relief.

TMJd (Temporomandibular Disorder)

tmj_normal2Symptoms include headaches, jaw and neck pain, bruxism (teeth grinding) and non restful sleep causing a muriad of other symptoms due to lack of sleep and stress. TMJd can be treated effectively and naturally through this deep tissue and myofascial release technique in my office. Trigger point therapy relieves the tension, and stretching and melting the fascia allows for space and relief from pain, tension, sleeplessness, referred pain such as headaches, back pain, ear and tooth pain. This massage includes neck, jaw, chest, shoulders and head (including intraoral massage). I have advanced schooling in treating TMJd, and deep neck work- and continue my education regularly.

Completing a series of 5 sessions spaced a week apart can often break the pain cycle and have you living a more comfortable life, able to rest and sleep easier, and diminish pain that may have lingered chronically for years! This specialized massage works to soften and release the deep muscles and fascial restrictions in the neck, head and face, incorporating intraoral work also.

One session every 1-2 weeks for 5-10 treatments (depending on severity).

Prenatal Massage-5All the therapists at Harmony Massage are trained in pregnancy and postnatal massage techniques. Supporting women during a time of great change (in body and life) is something we take great pride in providing. Stress reduction through massage is an important self-care practice, especially during pregnancy.

Using a combination of Swedish massage (long gliding strokes towards the heart, and connective tissue therapy, deep tissue massage, and myofascial release to help the body accommodate its growth and transitions. Massage increases circulation, relaxation and reduces overall stress. It can also help lower blood pressure, increase the range of motion, and reduce overall pain and tension. We use a special memory foam bolster for you to lay face down up to 9 months!

NMT/Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a specific pressure applied to a tight area within muscle tissue that may or may not cause pain in other parts of the body (referral pains). A trigger point in the thigh, for example, may produce referral pain in the knee. The knee, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in the calf. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache. This therapy is such that the recipient actively participates through breathing deeply to release the ‘knot’ or tension at the trigger point, as well as communicating where the pain refers so that the complete cycle of the triggers can be broken.

This (and any other type of bodywork) should not be painful- That said, it may be intense, or powerful when the releases occur. Communication during this bodywork is essential in order to be most beneficial. Relieving trigger points in the upper back and neck can have a profound effect on pain relief. Everything is so interconnected in the body, and so closely wired in the neck area.
